The test samples in English, Hungarian and German that we put on the Internet are meant to illustrate the wide variety of text and task types of the ECL exam. At lower levels (A2 and B1) reading and listening comprehension skills are often assessed with the help of selecting and matching type tasks based on pictures and charts, at higher levels (B2 and C1) candidates are expected to give short responses to questions asked based on the reading or listening texts. In the composition/writing tasks at Level A2 and even at Level B1 visual stimuli are used, whereas at levels B2 and C1 verbal stimuli are used as guidelines based on which candidates have to express their ideas in a coherent way. In the following samples there is only one task per skill at each level. In the "real" ECL test all skills are assessed with two tasks. Die nachfolgenden Schnuppertests in Englisch, Ungarisch und Deutsch sollen die Vielfalt der Text- und Aufgabentypen des ECL-Sprachprüfungssystems darstellen. Auf den unteren Stufen (A2 und B1) wird Lese- und Hörverstehen oft mit Ankreuzen oder Zuordnen auf der Basis von Bildern oder Tabellen gemessen. Auf der Mittel- und Oberstufe (B2 und C1) wird von den Kandidaten auch erwartet, dass sie auf Fragen, die anhand der Hör- bzw. Lesetexte gestellt werden, kurze Antworten geben. Bei der schriftlichen Kommunikation müssen die Kandidaten ihre Gedanken auf Level A2 und B1 anhand visueller Stimuli und auf den Stufen B2 und C1 anhand verbaler Stimuli formulieren. In den folgenden Schnuppertests gibt es auf jeder Stufe je Fertigkeit nur eine Aufgabe. Im "wahren" ECL-Test wird jede Fertigkeit mit je zwei Aufgaben gemessen.
